Father to Kedah Sultanah passes away

ALOR SETAR, Sept 5 — Hamidun Taib, the father of the Sultanah of Kedah, Tuanku Haminah Hamidun, died last night at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani. He was 83.

Hamidun’s youngest child, Datuk Nor Azman told Bernama that his father was admitted to the hospital after complaining of breathing difficulties on Thursday night.

“He had been unwell for quite some time and was staying at the Taman Cinta Sayang (in Sungai Petani) which is located near the hospital to facilitate treatments. The Sultanah has been visiting him regularly,” he told Bernama.

Hamidun’s remains were taken to the Taman Ria Jaya Mosque for prayers at 10.30am and would be buried after the Zohor prayers in Kampung Matang Jelutong, Bagan Serai, Perak. He leaves behind seven children. The Sultanah of Kedah is the fifth child. — Bernama
