KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 – The government has agreed to pull back the introduction of an end of life policy for vehicles after taking into account the people’s views and feedback.
Since the announcement of the plan, the government has been receiving many complaints from the people who are generally not agreeable to the mandatory annual comprehensive inspection as requirement for road tax renewal for vehicles aged 15 years or older, a statement from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) said today.
On October 28, MITI had announced the new National Automotive Policy (NAP) which included the Vehicle End Of Life Policy which will see the introduction of a mandatory annual inspection of cars aged 15 years and above as a requirement for road tax renewal. – Bernama

The only nation I know who drive so many old cars is Cuba.
Scrap Proton. It has been a white elephant, unable to compete even with our neighbours. It is a eyesore of old 1970s technology (proton is based on the old Mitsubishi Lancer) and an embarrassment to Malaysia and her people. Proton tells the world that Malaysian engineers can not even build cars with a budget of RM 190million of research grant every year.

However, taking safety into consideration, maybe we should introduce a one year warranty of certificate of fitness to car of 5 yrs and above that are fit to be on the road.

However, looking at the matter of road-worthiness and safety, there IS a need to check older cars but it doesn't have to be annually. Maybe once in 2-3 years is enough. Or in the case of well-maintained classic or antique cars, just one inspection is enough every 5-10 years.

This is just another slip shot idea, policy or work of the BN govt. They cannot think right, plan right what is really good for the people. They only think of their own interest and probably their own pockets. What kind of people are these?

Their tactic is to propose something bad so that you will be horrified then pretend to withdraw so you will feel better. But what happens is that they are draining the people psychologically and emotionally so that bad things in the system will remain when they are tired out from the horror inflicted by bad proposals or please from thinking they won! Watch out for this tactic and steel yourselves everytime it happend, its happening all the time under BN!
This is also how they turned the BN coalition party partners into lapdogs. So keep focused and remember the below list always in all dealings ! See below :
1) End of Inequality affecting Malaysians via law and constitution
2) End of Malay Reserve Land
3) End of Special Privileges
4) End of NEP
5) End of 7% housing discount / bumiputra housing quota etc.
6) Amend ISA to a form acceptable to the Human Rights Charter
7) Implement the IPCMC.
8) End of the 12.5% of issued stock in the equities markets
9) Effect leeway and allowances such as voice prayer for minority dominant areas (so that Singapore Chinese can be re-assimilated)
10) End all medieval punishments via Syariah Courts (so that Singapore Malays can be re-assimilated) and Malays are the equal of all citizens in terms of personal freedoms.
11) End forced Military Conscriptions via National Service to be replaced with a Voluntary system. (so that all Singaporeans would choose Malaysia's freer 0.4 year NS system over Singapore's 2.5 year mandatory NS system)
Same old trick ! Vote for the party that grants equality !
