KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Authorities will post 1,400 police at tomorrow’s Malaysia Cup final between Kelantan and Negri Sembilan in a bid to prevent crowd violence that has marred the teams’ previous fixtures, local media reported.
Police would also close roads near the stadium and make rival fans use separate entrances, he New Straits Times said today.
Kelantan were banned from playing home matches at their Kota Baru stadium in April after repeat disturbances during Negri Sembilan games — at one of which the visitors were trapped in their dressing room for two hours as fans ran amok.
Kelantan are seeking their first major silverware in Malaysian football since 1921. — Reuters
